22nd August 2013 We had dined at this restaurant in Feb so I forgot the details of the food that we had, but the food was excellent and we 4 of us all enjoyed very much. It was to celebrate our daughter's birthday and she got a special little cake like thing at the end with candle on it. That was very nice surprise and thanks for the chef and the staff.
The venue here is also excellent looking over the Wellington harbor.

3rd February 2014 High Tea - what a rip off. Try Marthas or Sweet Pea. The young servers are pleasant enough however if you want coffee thats extra and they won't bring you a carafe of water to the table. I estimate our table spent $500 on 4 cake stands with ten nibbles about the size of a two dollar coin each, a macaron and for some of us a cocktail. Because I don't like hot tea I was only allowed one glass of iced tea (wasn't offered a top up whilst everyone else had their cups refreshed a couple of times). Profit margin on this must be huge. No where near worth it.

4th November 2010 Excellent food, excellent service - they did however run out of the speciality desert and given we were the first table to sit for lunch I thought this a bit odd - did they forget to make a new batch that morning? I was however lucky enough to get one of the remaining deserts and all I can say is that it was delicious!!!! By far the best I had eaten this year - creme brulee

25th August 2010 we wanted somewhere special to go for dinner, Hippopotomus was an excellent choice, the staff were unobtrusive but friendly and informative; the entrees were excellent a lovely soup in shot glasses with little mountains of seafood on the side, our main courses were absolutely delicious, the steak was tender and cooked to a perfect rare for me and medium reare for my companions; the deserts were spectacular, I indulged in the crepe suzette which was a performance as well as the desert it was delicious. Well done Hippopotomus while we still miss Il Casino for our special occasions you are right up there. We have been three times now and the food and service are outstanding.
