'A-Class' Sailing Akaroa - It's a REAL Sailing Adventure!
Enjoy an authentic 2 hour Akaroa Harbour Cruise and Sailing Experience. You can relax and discover what it takes to sail SV Manutara, a 47', beautifully maintained 1946 vintage, genuine, classic ocean sailing yacht.
This beautiful ship was built here in New Zealand by master craftsmen, the Salthouse brothers, and Jack Logan, from a single giant Kauri tree.
We provide the only Environmentally Sustainable and Exciting Harbour Cruise around Akaroa Harbour. Enjoy an encounter with wildlife, on their terms, without disrupting their environment. Enjoy this one-on-one classic sailing and wildlife experience yourself. If you love dolphins, do something to protect them. Sail with us. It's the right cruise to choose.
Dolphins love the quiet too you know. This unique wildlife Eco-Cruise has been optimised to help us meet our own strict 'Green'
achievements. Our Seven Environmental Objectives are:
1-ZERO Exhaust emissions
2- ZERO Noise pollution
3- ZERO Wildlife intrusion
4- ZERO Fuel used
5- ZERO Wake effect
6- ZERO Effluent discharge
7- ZERO Environmental IMPACT!
Our Tourist customers repeatedly tell us that this was one of the very best Adventure Tourism Activities they've experienced. And speaking of experience, did I mention that we invite our customers to drive the yacht themselves? This makes 'A-Class' Sailing a unique and truly personal and unforgettable tourist experience.
We believe we provide an 'A-Class' Adventure Tourism Experience, however the reason we're called 'A-Class' Sailing is because Manutara is one of the very last genuine registered 'A-Class' Keelers built. Designed in 1946, by Jock Muir from Tasmania, to win the grueling Sydney-Hobart yacht Race, the design won the race four times: in 1947, 1948, 1949 and line honours in 1951!
You'll love cruising using the power of the wind to drive the boat. With no motor running, there's no engine noise or diesel exhaust
