The Crystal People opened its doors on the corner of Oxford Terrace and Kilmore Street in December '07 and has since become a favourite destination for avid rock hounds and seekers of superior personal development and metaphysical goods.

"People often just drop by for a nice sit down and chat, to soak in the atmosphere, or absorb the energy. Whatever their reason for visiting, we welcome the opportunity to talk about the crystals, fossils and metaphysical items we have," Co-owner, Glen says.

Along with the core product range of crystals, minerals, jewellery, rocks and fossils, the shop stocks Himalayan crystal salt lamps, books, magazines, natural candles, notebooks made from hand-made paper, natural oils, and hand-made natural soaps.

Glen says that, after fourteen years of being in the business, "We now have one of the country's most extensive ranges of crystals and minerals, including some very rare pieces. We try to price our goods as low as possible so that they are affordable to young people and especially children - I remember well what it was like having big eyes and a small pocket! We often get asked about new crystals and minerals; if we don't have it in stock then we're almost always able to source things through our networks."

The Crystal People shop is a timely addition to the Christchurch Community, especially with the recent closure of one of the city's few other metaphysical shops.
