In her Auckland papermill, artist, Jude Graveson, uses traditional hand papermaking and printmaking methods to frame and mount a range of design artworks made from New Zealand grown and processed woodpulp.
Each paper print is a NZ rainforest tree or plant which has been deeply embossed(kissed) into still wet, handmade paper and pressed in a 60-ton hydraulic press.
These original relief prints are dried and coloured with pigments, dyes and traditional pastes, based old African recipes, a personal process developed by the artist.
Featured in"100 New Zealand Craft Artists",1988, by Helen Schamroth, Graveson's award winning background is in fibre, cloth, threads, paper; age-old processes.
