We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in June, at $180 a night I was disgusted by the lack of value for money! There is a reason that there are more pictures of the bar than the rooms, and that is because the money that was spent on the bar would've been much better spent on the rooms that needed paint, had rotting windowsills, and had bathrooms that needed full refurbishment. I would've preferred to have stayed in a hostel, saved money and had a similar room.

Thank you for taking time to write us a feedback on your experience at Mercure. I’m really sorry to hear that the rooms were not up to your standard. As you have mentioned, public areas of the hotel including entrance, lobby, restaurant and the conferencing area were upgraded in early 2011. Due to high demand in town with Rugby World Cup, hotel did not carry on with the refurbishment for the rooms which has started early this year again but it has been delayed due to last minute adjustment to the plan. We do understand the urgency in refurbishment. However, our team are trying their best to maintain what we currently have. Items listed on your comment are certainly something that the team could have prevented – which I will make sure to pass it on to the relevant team. Again, our sincerest apologies for the disappointment. We hope to be able to welcome you again in the future when we have few refurbished rooms ready. Thank you again for your feedback.
