The 2008 Abel Tasman Marble Mountain Classic mountain bike race is the first of what is hoped to be an annual event.
Set in some of the most spectacular scenery on earth, the classic is sure to please and challenge riders of all abilities.
The race starts and finishes at Kaiteriteri Beach, Tasman.
The ride is a circular track from the beach to the Marble Mountain (Takaka Hill) and return.
Other features in this race add to its uniqueness:
* Riders start and finish at the same location making it easier for support crews.
* Amazing prizes: International air travel prizes so get your passports ready.
* All money raised from this event goes to the building of the new Motueka Community Hospital.
* The base for the classic is at the stunning Kaiteriteri Beach.
* Plenty of accommodation.
* Plenty of other fun activities: MTB can be seen as a sometimes selfish sport, having the race at Kaiteriteri allows the whole family and/or groups of friends to enjoy a weekend of fun!
Brilliant - a great variety of terrain, the best views you will ever get and a great community run event. A real winner. 32 km long with over 1000 meters of climbing. You will need your granny gear.
