20th March 2009 We enjoyed every minute spent here. The room was light, airy and clean. Lovley fluffy white towels and linen. Bed was very comfortable . The hosts were warm and friendly without being obtrusive.The weather was glorious and best of all we caught a huge big king fish! Would go back and stay there every time wer'e in Nelson.
Monaco Shells Bed and Breakfast is located near Nelson City and situated on the beautiful Monaco Peninsula. Surrounded by sea, you can enjoy the ambience of a holiday destination, yet be only 2 km from the Stoke shopping centre and 6 minutes from Nelson's airport.
Nelson City is only 15 minutes away, so let Monaco Shells B&B be your base to explore sunny Nelson's culture and art. Walk in the surrounding National Parks (New Zealand's Abel Tasman, Kahurangi and Nelson Lakes) and wilderness areas or sip vintage wines at the numerous local vineyards.
There is a choice of the lovely spacious queen double in the Turret Room or the elegant twin in the Cathedral Room.
The Turret Room is well equipped with:
* Microwave
* Refrigerator
* Small table and chairs
* Tea and coffee making facilities
* Wireless broadband (bring your laptop)
A lovely continental breakfast awaits you in the morning. You may want to take advantage of the Nelson sunshine and enjoy your breakfast in the garden or on the deck.
When you're ready to go off exploring we can lend you mountain bikes so you can ride the local cycle ways or borrow the kayak for a paddle in the estuary.
At the end of the day there's also a BBQ that you're welcome to use. Wander out on the deck or into the garden and enjoy a glass of wine. Take a stroll around the peninsula, go bird spotting, enjoy the sea and mountain views. Watch the night stars or wander down to the Honest Lawyer, and savour a meal or a glass of Nelson wine. Or enjoy a spa under the stars in our private courtyard.
11th April 2009 The accommodation is quite unique and very comfortable and the hosts welcoming. They gave us good advice on our proposed onward route.
Nearby dining venues are limited without using the car but they recommended The Honest Lawyer pub which was a short walk away and excellent.
