I am a longterm client of Openhost, as in over five years, however....... whenever I need something extra, that I am happy to pay for, I have to go through these ongoing email conversations with the helpdesk, next have to pick up the phone and argue until I'm blue in the face to get things sorted.I regret - repeat - regret having our three domain names, and web services hosted with them. The moment I find a better business who can do a speedy changeover of all my domains then I'm out of there. The only reason we're still with them is that we can't have our services down for two days while waiting for the other supplier to pick up our domains and accounts.

So here's the thing. I have been an Open Host client for a few years and during that time I've had few if any issues. Email has not been entirely reliable but aside from that my website hosting has been ok. Now I'm wanting to update my website but I need Microsoft's .Net 4.5 which isn't available on my current server. Turns out there is a $50 charge to move to a different server or I can try to do it myself and I get a $5 credit. I suggested to their support team that as a loyal client who is only moving because their older server doesn't provide the modern hosting environment I need that they should do this for me gratis. This was the response: "There is no reason that I can see here that would allow me to even consider a request to waiver migration fees, therefore standard charges apply. Thanks" Awesome support Open Host. Since I need to move anyway I'm going to see if I can find an alternative.

Awful system, constantly need to add your ip to the firewall whitelist for the db. You can see all databases hosted by them (not the data but all the db names, so if a site is poorly designed opens the flood gates for sql injections) Far too expensive for what is provided..

In the last year or 2 these guys have really gone downhill. Their customer service, accountability and effectiveness at actually doing even the simplest tasks is about the worst I have encountered (and I'm an agency owner who has dealt with a lot of web hosts over the years). Heck of a shame because we need good web hosts.

A friend told me about these guys, only guys work in IT correct :-), morning Girls. I set up an account and its been trouble free and cheap to run just a fantastic service with nice tools. In terms of support all my emails have been answered very quickly, just a no fuss provider.

Old technology, 2 days to reply to an email even though 4 hours stated. Knowledge - poor, control panel times out constantly. Cannot answer basic questions. Never had these problems with freeparking!.

I've just opened an account with Openhost to build a few Wordpress sites for friends with small businesses. Fantastic phone support so far has helped me get up and running very quickly even though I'm no web developer (more of a web editor). Thanks!

Just transferred from another website host, and Openhost really went the 'extra mile' in helping me get my website and mail up and running. Speaking to a real person on the phone is great, and in these times of email and diy internet support, a nice surprise. Will definitely be recommending Openhost.

I have used Open host for 1 year, servers are fast and now affordable compared to Australia... Remember for google rankings its better to be hosted in NZ! Some of the best service I have ever had, every time I ring I get an answer!

Open host are my first hosting company. Still, I've been impressed with their good customer support and have been really happy with their help to get me started with Sitebuilder, then Joomla and now Wordpress. Website delivery speed is excellent in NZ and Australia and pretty good as far away as Japan and the US. www.holidaynelson.co.nz

I was getting tired of referring customers to set up their own hosting, then have to go through the drama of getting my CMS up and running on their account. With an Openhost VPS account, I can host customers directly, and if there's an issue I can deal with it myself. If the problem is something beyond my skills, I know the Openhost team can help out. I have had some issues with the control panel, but that's somewhat beyond OpenHost's control as it's developed by a third party. They don't oblige you to use it, so if you're a competent Linux administrator you can set things up however you like. Pricing is good, there are a range of options available, and the service is reliable. www.createit.co.nz

I highly recommend these guys for hosting wordpress and dotnetnuke solutions (single portal installs) they are always applying the latest security patches to their servers and the plesk control panel is very easy to work with, the prices are inline with usa based servers and great support, keep up the great work. www.flaxdigital.com

Not that she does much web development these days. But if she did, OpenHost would be the company for her. She might go open source, then again she might swing the Microsoft way. Having set up 2 sites with openhost now, (www.filterscentral.co.nz & www.morrinsvillersa.org.nz) I wouldn't consider going anywhere else for future hosting. Open, friendly and helpful is what they are - definately not just OPEN WALLET.

Up until a year ago we have hosted 40 odd websites offshore in the US. Now we host all but 3 on our VPS with Openhost and the remainder will be transferred before year end. There technical helpdesk has always been most helpful in providing us with free expert advice and great support in general. Their servers have an up-time of nearly 100% and the monthly hosting fee is a laugh compared with other players in the market. You can trust OpenHost to take great care of your online business.

Openhost is my choice of webhost. They are competitively priced, and their support has always been friendly, prompt and efficient. They helped me when I was learning how to set up my site, and asking dumb questions, and patiently and expertly helped with my queries. I totally recommend Oenhost. professionallife.balance.com

These guys rock! A friend recommended them to me, I went online, signed up and everything went without a single glitch! I was expecting my emails to be down for a while, but that didn't happen. And I even tested their customer support before joining up to see what they were like and I had a very friendly and useful person at the other end who knew how to speak my language (which some tend to forget plain english). In this age of customary fly-by-night hosting companies who leave you high-and-dry in times of need, Openhost have been tried-and-true customer service professionals, responding to each of our hosting issues with kindness and efficiency. Their servers are quick and effective and plans are of great value. By the way, I have no affiliation with Openhost - I am just a customer. Highly recommended.

There are plenty of ISPs available in New Zealand, but few of them optimise their server VMs and focus on customers as well as OpenHost. We run www.reallylinux.com from OpenHost and find the Debian/Centos servers to be professionally managed and performance optimised far better than hosting solutions we had before in the USA. Moreover, the value of OpenHost is in simple ease of use and the CP panel offers even some of our totally new website manager's an interface they can learn and use in minutes. Finally, we worry about security and stability as all websites do. We don't want our readers encountering 404 or time out errors... and have found that the service stability of OpenHost remains excellent. Keep up the good work OpenHost!

Openhost have been excellent, I have used them for three years myself, and signed up 5 of my clients as well. Their features stack up really well compared to other hosting companies.

The West City Baseball Club - http://www.westcitybaseball.co.nz - was put onto Open Host to host our website and has not looked back since, with our website generating plenty of national and overseas interest. The web control panel is very easy to use and allows us to manage emails from sponsors and players, web stats to see who's been visiting, as well as allowing us to to easily install any scripts we want to run. Since signing up with Open Host a number of years ago the Club has had very few problems, and are proud to support a New Zealand based business. While they may not be the cheapest on the market, they do provide a very good service, with support staff that are able to cater to any problem we have, no matter how big or small. The 0800 number is fantastic, with a very short response time. They also give us plenty of notice whenever any upgrades are going to occur on the server, or if the site will be down for any reason. West City Baseball Club would definitely recommend Open Host to anyone looking to set up a website, or who has an existing site with a second class host. These guys are the shiz.

I have used OpenHost to host my site www.andreamaemiller.co.nz for the past 18 months and I have had no problems or regrets. OpenHost have a fantastic self-service portal which is extremely easy to use - I was up and running within a couple of hours. The price is great too, so look no further!

The best thing about these guys is that when there is a problem, they reply immediately and do not wait until the problem is fixed. Not so many businesses understand that bad news are as good as the good ones in certain situations.

A friend told me about these guys, only guys work in IT correct :-), morning Girls. I set up an account and its been trouble free and cheap to run just a fantastic service with nice tools. In terms of support all my emails have been answered very quickly, just a no fuss provider.
