The laboratory is located at the Invermay Research Centre on the Taieri Plains, 10km from Dunedin. There is a dedicated team of 14 full and part time staff at the laboratory, many of who have worked here for over 25 years.
We provide a wide range of diagnostic services including; biochemistry, haematology, microbiology, parasitology, toxicology, nutritional chemistry and histology. Our veterinary pathologist, Dr John Gill, with almost 30 years experience at Invermay, has a wealth of knowledge on animal health issues in the region.
In keeping with the need to maintain rapid and reliable turnaround of results, we use state of the art automation for clinical biochemistry, haematology and trace elements. In 1992, the laboratory's chemistry section was the first veterinary pathology laboratory in New Zealand to gain IANZ (Telarc) accreditation.
Gribbles Dunedin has long been at the forefront of trace element monitoring in animal health. The laboratory has a 24-hour service for all Mineral Check and GRIP production profiles, enabling the veterinarian to give prompt advice on management of trace elements on the farm.
The laboratory also operates a comprehensive chemical and microbiological analytical service, specialising in food, water and feed and meal analyses. This service is fully IANZ and LAS accredited.
