7th March 2013 I went in to curves for the first time today to get a fitness assessment. I expected to be put through my paces to find out how fit I am (as is usual in a fitness assessment). Instead, there was only 1.30minutes of exercising, 30 seconds on each of three machines to try it out. The lady (trainer?) had no idea what to say to someone who wasn't there to lose weight, only to maintain it, and had to consult her supervisor about what to say to convince me it was worthwhile joining. I felt like I was in better shape than her, and the machines did not work me at all, even though I am not exactly strong. Also, I was told I would only see results if I went at least three times a week. There are two problems with that. 1. I don't want to lose weight, which they knew, so I am not expecting to see results. 2. I have been going to another gym for the last two years, only once every week or two, and I saw results from there in about a month. So it can be done. Curves strikes me as a place for people who are just too embarrassed about their weight/low fitness levels to go anywhere else.
