For centuries, rug traders, scholars and collectors have travelled to the far corners of the Middle East in search of beautiful, handwoven rugs. They have sought out rugs of the highest quality made by tribal peoples from far-flung villages and nomads, who weave patterns that have been passed down through the generations.
Through their experiences and travel across these lands, traders developed insights into which rugs were of the highest quality, and which would be the most desirable. At Four Corners we still work in the ways of the old traders, personally choosing rugs from the best selection available throughout the weaving centres of Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and the Caucasus.
Our distinctive collection is gathered with our knowledge and understanding of what will be sought after and admired; rugs that will suit our needs in all aspects of decor rugs that will be investments, and rugs that will become heirlooms; rugs that families will live with and live on rugs that will stand the test of time, because in many cases they already have.
For over 20 years Four Corners has visited homes throughout New Zealand where you can experience the splendor, colour and charm of our truly distinctive collection.

I am often asked which is the best rug. The Persian is certainly the best known, but weaving is practiced in over 40 countries throughout the Middle East, from Africa right across to China.
The technical qualities and the appeal of any rug go back to the individual weavers skills and experience. Every country therefore has examples of both the superb fine weavings of the cities to the lower quality, yet equally charming, looser weavings of the tribal and nomadic people.
