HISTORY:
In 1991 the first Working Committee met to discuss the feasibility of a Community Centre on site at the Mt Roskill War Memorial Park, in Sandringham Rd.ext. in Wesley.
In 1992, a building was donated to the residents of Wesley, by the Sandringham Owairaka Baptist Church and placed on site in the reserve. Over the years that followed the Centre was well represented in the community, offering classes and activities and the Wesley Community Centre Market Days, which began in 1994. During this time the Centre was overseen by the Wesley Community Project Trust and the Wesley Community Management Committee.
On the 7th November 1998, the hall was burnt to the ground and plans began immediately to replace the Community Centre with a bigger, better and brighter facility. After consultation with the community, a needs analysis was produced and plans were drawn up for a Community Centre that would go on to win awards for its innovative and modern design.
On the 7th June 2003, stage 1 of the new Centre was officially opened.
A Youth Facility adjacent to the Centre is currently under construction and due for completion in April 2011
