We have been taking our much loved family member/cat, Misty, to Jan & Ivan at Howick Boarding Cattery for almost 10 years and we have always had peace of mind knowing that Misty is well looked after by them, not just with food & shelter, but also with cuddles and caring attention. Jan & Ivan are just as welcoming towards the rest of our family as they are towards Misty, always ready for a friendly chat when we call in to drop off or pick up. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this cattery to others.

Long and well established cattery in eastern suburbs of Auckland. Cattery is on nearly 3/4 of acre and has separate and communal accommodation which makes it popular as it can cater for all types of cats. The cattery enjoys the best reputation and is recommended by local veterinarians. The business comes with a modernised 3 bedroom home. This is also a great opportunity for land banking as the land can be sub-divided to accommodate 4 more properties if required.

Dog grooming service was poor. Didn't do a thorough job. Took the dog there once and never again. Calls up claiming that we have booked in our dog for an appointment, does this multiple times. Loves to shove business cards in your face.

We have taken our cat here several times, and he seems happy enough. The owners are very 'cat' oriented and obviously are huge pet lovers and are always sweet to our fur baby. I'm sure there are posher catterys around with more bells and whistels but this one's comfy and peaceful. Just what old Howick puss cats like!

I have been taking my cats to this cattery for almost 10 years. Jan is most certainly a cat lover and talks and cuddles with the cats as if they were her own! I am also grateful that they send their Xmas booking sheets in Sept/Oct as it reminds me to get our holiday plans finalised and make sure we can book our cats in for those times. They get booked up quite early and that to me tells me that they are good at what the do. The 'male owner' ,as other reviewers have worded him, Ivan, actually went out of his way when my very frail cat of 17ys passed away, (not unexpected) peacefully, while we were on holiday, contacting me and making the necessary arrangements. Which included buring her in our garden before we got back. Now if that isn't service, i don't know what is!!!

Great Cattery that goes beyond a boarding cattery - Excellent people, service, and care‎ !!!!! We have had three cats looked after by Jan and Ivan over the years. Our first cat was a 16 yr old Burmese with kidney disease and required medication and special food - we always felt assured our cat was being well cared for - and he was! James our mandalay was very well cared for and always seemed relaxed when we collected him. Unfortunately James was killed on the road outside our home and was very touched that Jan expressed her sincere condolences - a very genuine lady. We now have Henry our blue mandalay boarding with Jan and Ivan as required and he is always very happy when collected and I am told he receives lots of cuddles that he loves! We have also had vets recommend Jan and Ivan's cattery. I am somewhat bemused by the negative reviews as this cattery is one of the best I have ever encountered?????

I have been taking my cats here for well over 14 years, they have been well cared and looked after. one of my cats was still being cared for at the age of 19 and my younger one has been cared for since she was 6 months she is now 7. The cattery is very clean and on collecting the cats all the other cats look pretty happy too. As for the comment on not accomdating for less than 5 days this only applies to the Xmas period, when they are very busy and bookings are made by Sept/Oct. I spose I know the owners very well now and yes you would need to have a good sense of humor to relate to them. Like ever business they have there rules and times you adhere to, Until i have no further cats I will keep using this cattery.

Well, I can comment on the quality of care. We picked our cats up in January 2008 after being in the cattery for only 10 days. They are ragdolls, and both needing bathing as soon as we got them home. They smelled awful and had lumps of faeces matted in their fur. Quite obvious on cream fluffy cats. Never will this cattery get our money again. My husband also found the male owner rather rude. We paid $28 per day for their care. Was going to email but thought we would get no response. The above comment confirms my suspicions.

Cannot comment on the quality care, as I did not even make it further than reception. After I was assured by the lady owner per email they can accommodate my cat, I was rudely refused by the man at reception because "they do not accommodate cats for less than 5 days". After emailing the next day with a complaint, I am still waiting on a reply. When mentioning this to my husband, he told me about similar treatment by (according to description) the same man a year ago, when making inquiries about boarding. Won't leave my precious cats here if they paid me.
