25th March 2019 I had a customer call me from the back of beyond with the engine light on, Saturday Afternoon. I searched garages in the area, finding Whataroa Garage. Gave them a call to find the Mechanic was not on duty but on call. I gave him a call, interrupting his Milking. Ian could not have been more helpful. I was aware there would be a call out fee, the service was very quick, the car was off the road for about half an hour, problem located and sorted, customer happy and back on the road.
I was very happy with the charge, considering the speed and fact that Ian had to come in I think it was very reasonable.

Last week I had the miss fortune of getting a flat tyre as we arrived in Whataroa. Not wanting to complete the days journey to Hawea on a spacesaver tyre I approached the local garage for assistance. The young gentleman in charge promptly agreed to do what he could to sort the problem. On discovering the puncture, which was a particularly awkward cut, he set about mending it, installing back on the car and then he checked the pressures on all tyres before sending me on my way. Service like this is hard to find these days. Younger men are often maligned in this country for not wanting to work. This young man couldn't have done better. Thanks for a job well done. PS the mend was 100% and got us home to Southland the following day.
