26th February 2008 I had our 1st baby at the Centre in Feb 08, the midwives, nurses all the way to the cleaners of the facility are awesome, and nothing is ever a problem.
All the questions (including the silliest) were given clear and supportive answers. This coupled with the comfortable rooms and lovely food menu made the whole experience of becoming a new Mum (with NO experience around babies or kids) alot less stressful than I expected.
Overall I feel exceptionally glad and very priviliged in being able to use Warkworth Birthing Centre for the birth of our daughter. Additionally we will certainly be planning any further additions to our family to be birthed at the Centre.
I personally cannot thank my Midwife and all the Staff enough for the time that they spent with me in overcoming 1st week nerves and "hick ups" with our little girl.
Warkworth Birthing Centre opened in February 2000. It is situated in rural surroundings on a hill above the town and has a quiet, homely atmosphere.
Full birthing facilities are available for normal births and a pool is available for labour and birth. Your midwife provides your labour and birth care with your second midwife coming in to assist at the birth.
After the birth of your baby and until you go home there are registered nurses to provide care for you and your baby. Your midwife will visit you daily and continue to provide your post-natal care at home after discharge from the birthing centre.

Full birthing facilities for normal birth.
Pool for water births and labour.
Partners can stay 1st night (Birth Day).
Postnatal stay - usually 1-4 days
You can transfer back from another hospital postnatally, within 12 hours of a normal birth or 24 hours after a caesarean. Subject to availability of rooms. Your Lead Maternity Carer (LMC) should arrange transfer preferably during labour.
24 hour trained Nursing Staff to care for you postnatally.
Kitchen for tea and coffee making.
TV in rooms.
All linen provided for you and your baby.

Plunket Carseat Rental. Open Wed 4-5:30, Sat 10-12noon. Phone (09)425 9291.
A live-in Caretaker is on site.

Personal and individually suited midwifery care from conception until 4-6 weeks after baby's birth.
Comprehensive pre-natal classes: full course, Mother and Baby classes are available. We teach active birth and parenting skills and they are open to all.
