Our group of approx 45 people recently enjoyed a long weekend at Silverstream Retreat. It's a fascinating place, on a rise overlooking the Hutt river and surrounded by bush-clad hills. We stayed in the Stonewall Lodge, apart from other accommodation, where the facilities were adequate for our needs (great showers) and we were able to sing to the wee hours without disturbing the neighbours. We were impressed with the standard and extent of new facilities in this rambling complex of refurbished, derelict and new buildings. Good weather helped the trek to dining room. The number and range of other groups accommodated and catered for over the weekend without any crowding or disruptions was quite remarkable. Silverstream Retreat is a work in progress and obviously a labour of love. Staying there is an adventure in itself. I give it the thumbs up.
