22nd August 2010 This is our favourite restaurant - beautiful food, fantastic service and lovely ambience. We travel from west auckland for takeaways every now and then!
27th March 2011 So disappointing. My partner and I used to come here practically every weekend a few years ago, we loved the place.
Last night we decided to revisit our old stomping ground with some friends. Yuck. The lovely authentic Thai food is GONE. Now the stirfries are drenched in sweet chili sauce, and the curries are bland and insipid, all you can taste is coconut milk.
We won't be going back again :(

9th March 2011 My partner and myself dined here on valentines night. For a last minute decision, they fitted us in no sweat! The food was nice and authentic, and reasonably priced (around $20ish for a main). Considering the restaurant wasn't very busy, the wait was long, but still, well worth it!

28th September 2010 Loved this place; authentic, tasty and reasonably priced. The Duck with Pineapple and grape in a red curry sauce is highly recommended. Unlike anything I've tried before, even in Thailand.

25th July 2010 Great location and ambience and even better food makes Ruan Thai my favourite Thai restaurant. Conisdering Thai is my favourite cuisine, I guess this says it all. Definitely worth a few visits!!

22nd July 2010 Great venue, great location and lovely food. the only thing which is less great is that during winter it gets very chilly in there. Not sure what was going on with the heating, but it certainly didn't make us want to hang around....

13th July 2010 Been here a few times, always enjoyed the very warm and inviting welcome, the lovely decor and food and the feeling that I've been transported somewhere exotic for an evening. A higher standard Thai restaurant than many in Auckland. Highly recommended.

13th July 2010 Situated upstairs overlooking Mission Bay is Ruan Thai. Receiving a very warm welcome at the door, the restaurant is so authentic I almost felt as though I had stepped into Thailand itself. We were seated near an elephant. The menu was brief and simple – perfect if you ask me - an indecisive person who when faced with a menu containing over 60 items to chose from tends to mutter the words ‘I’ll put my order in last’. Service was impressive with quick delivery of equally impressive large entrees. The mains, also delivered quickly, were generous portions, so could quite easily be shared between two. I have to say that the food was excellent and I knew that, as I tucked a takeaway menu into my bag upon exit, I would be back again for more.
