The food was nice but they are stingy on the portion sizes.

Hi Purpleberry, we are pleased that you enjoyed the food, however it is most unfortunate that you felt the portion size was on the small size. Please let us know what it was that you ordered so we can review the portion size. Thanks SJ

Had dinner there on sunday, $20 main (choose stone grilled steak) + dessert (some blurberry torte thing). Was very nice. I often go there for freinds' gatherings etc. Wide menu selection. Apparently their lunches are quite good also. The bar is popular on thurs/fris. $5 dessert tuesdays are good also!

Spent a Friday night at Basalt and really enjoyed there antipasto platter. Local venue with quality food. Try the Stonegrill.

Their cornfritters are absolutely gorgeous! except when I went on Sunday for brunch they had run out, this was extremely disappointing. I find the meals a little on the expensive side for what you get, the stonegrill meals are rather small, although it's a unique dining experience and the food is delicious. Staff are great too.

Good place to come for a beer and a chat with a few friends, handily walk through Howick village - on a cold winters night you could be in any Eurpoean village, and Basalt will warm you up

Great place to go to meet friends. a nice location in Howick village, though it does get packed come the weekend (probably coz it's a great place and in a nice location). For reasons best known to somebody else it seems to attract stunningly beautiful women (not that tha's a bad thing). Must be something they put in the water...?

A regular dine out for us with the folks and they have a great Mums night off meal deal on a Sunday $20.00 for two courses. Great stone grill available but you have to try their chicken and avocado salad, its devine yet still substantial. Good atmosphere, sometimes the waitresses are a little non-attentive and distracted but hey, it's still good dining.

This is great place for brunch or dinner, I had my 3 year old in tow when we went for brunch on Sun and the staff looked after her with colouring pages, crayons, easy grip spoons and smily faces on her fluffy, making for an easy morning out for my partner and I. Food is fantastic, Staff are wonderful, Highly reccommend and if your keen to go back pick up a loyatly card with extra benefits. A must visit !!
