Niue Land Matters

There is now an increasing attention from off-shore Niuean families to discover and register their family land holdings in Niue. One needs a Niuean genealogy and knowledge regarding the whereabouts of the family lands. Without these tools, the claim for ancestral lands is like looking for a needle in the hay-stack.

For those needing to confirm their knowledge of their ancestry and land holdings, this is also a journey into the past and memory lane. Often, past memories are simply that. These do not translate easily to a successful claim in the Land Court setting.
