23rd August 2010 No doubt this is a great place for a casual meal and the selection of beers is excellent. However the restaurant itself lacks ambience. It is not separate from the rest of the building and consequently is quite noisy. The food was excellent but rather expensive for miserly small portions and $14 for a few bits of bread and dip was frankly a rip-off. In summary, a great place for a few drinks and some bar food but for anything more look elsewhere

15th July 2010 If you fancy a nice Sunday drive, followed by lunch and a beer then I highly recommend this place! It's only a short drive from Auckland and well worth it. The menu has a good selection of hearty dishes to chose from and my husband just loved the fact that they brewed their own beer.

13th July 2010 You have to come here to believe just how good their beer is - some of the most flavoursome, cleanest tasting and authentic beer made in NZ. Their "red" beer is the stuff of "any last requests". They also do memorable bar food - platters and tapas style bites, plus a restaurant as well. You can also buy their beer to take away.

13th July 2010 On a recommendation from a friend, I ventured out to Riverhead on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch and I was thoroughly impressed. For a damp Sunday afternoon, the bar was suprisingly busy and had a great buzz. We sat at the bar and ordered a bunch of small dishes from the bar menu - every dish was delicious! I espcially loved the butterfly prawns. Will definitly make the journey out to Hallertau again in future!

24th May 2010 Very cool place to have a drink and some snacks after a day out! Great beer and warm funky interior. We didn't eat, just some bar snacks and beer. Will definitely come back.

4th November 2008 Beautiful surroundings, always pleasant and relaxed and the music completely suited to the environment. Food is pretty good, they have a great range of options. Definitely try the beer tasting platter thingy. Some weird and wonderful flavours there.
