City Art Rooms, presents an ongoing programme of solo exhibitions, curated group shows, and ambitious artist projects from New Zealand and abroad. The gallery's missions are to exhibit challenging works of depth and quality, bridge relations between the diverse practices of NZ artists with international networks, and to create an accessible environment for appreciators and collectors of art. The gallery also offers a variety of services in art advising and consulting.
Located on level one of 28 Lorne St., Auckland, NZ, City Art Rooms features a foyer/reading room and two exhibition areas.
Kylie Sanderson and Philip Paterson serve as the directors of City Art Rooms, and are also the directors and founders of Sanderson Contemporary Art. Their strengths lie in the ability to assist new and experienced collectors manage and grow their collections through maintaining close relationships with their artists.
Young Sun Han, an artist and curator trained at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, USA and Goldsmiths, University of London, UK serves as the curator and general manager for City Art Rooms. He works closely with Sanderson Contemporary Art's curator Tamara Darragh (B.A. Art History, Victoria University, Wellington), to ensure a consistency of vision and to develop new projects.
